Our Team

Our Team

Just off of Paeroa’s main state highway, in the old Silver Fern factory, is a New Zealand business quietly creating an impact so great it has the potential to be a contributor to New Zealand farming for decades to come.

AgriSea, and its products – made organically from a species of New Zealand seaweed – are having an enormous impact on the dairying, drystock, horticulture, apiculture and viticulture enterprises that are using them. AgriSea brews liquid seaweed concentrates from the native species Ecklonia radiata, which it collects sustainably from the shores of remote coastal New Zealand.

Our business started as a dream and over the years we have made our family’s dream is a reality. Find out more about our journey from humble beginnings to the successful business we are today!

Now, he resides on the outskirts of Christchurch with his wife of 35 years. John’s hobbies include fishing and surfcasting. Nick Collins

Raised on a sheep and beef farm north of Auckland, I pursued horticulture studies at Lincoln before returning to the sheep and beef sector, spending seven years shearing in Aotearoa and abroad. After meeting my wife Jo and starting a family of three daughters, a knee injury led me from shearing to a 30-year career in dairy farming, including wages, share milking, and farm ownership under the Fonterra Organic program. We converted our farm to organics for land and water stewardship, focusing on soil microbiome and diverse pastures, and planted 20,000 trees for environmental benefits. My journey and a 20-year association with AgriSea have culminated in joining their team, a role I am excited and grateful for.

Our Applicators

Shane Rush

Central Waikato/ Coromandel Area (Under 15Ha)

I’ve been involved in organic and regenerative agriculture for the past 10 years. My wife Nicki and I bought our 2.5 ha block 5 years ago and have set about turning it into a productive home block with extensive vegetable gardens, food forests and using holistic grazing systems to manage our stock. Nicki and I run regular workshops to help others get more out of their land. One of the most critical aspects of any property, where the goal is to grow healthy nutrient dense food for the people and the animals, is the soil. That’s why we use the full range of Agrisea products on our block. We know that if we are looking after the microbial workforce in the soil that they in turn will look after us.
I can help you get an appropriate fertiliser programme underway for your block and apply the product as well. Give me a call on 0274805586 for a consultation and application rates.
