AgriSea for Soil

Build healthier, more resilient soils naturally. AgriSea's seaweed-based soil conditioners will help provide the right foundation for agricultural and horticultural success.

Healthy soil is essential for pasture, crop and animal growth. This page brings together practical guidance, research insights, and supporting resources to help you build and maintain soil health with confidence using AgriSea's proven seaweed-based solutions.

AgriSea's soil products harness the natural power of New Zealand Ecklonia Radiata seaweed to feed and activate soil biology. Rich in minerals, trace elements and bioactive compounds, they support beneficial microbes and earthworms, improve nutrient cycling, and strengthen soil structure. By working with natural soil processes, they enhance root and shoot growth, improve nutrient efficiency, and build aeration and drainage for more fertile, balanced soils.

The result is healthier, more resilient pastures and crops that recover faster from weather extremes, tolerate traffic and compaction more effectively, and are less affected by pest and disease pressure. Customers report longer roots, increased earthworm activity, reduced pulling and pugging, improved clover content (for natural nitrogen stability), stronger germination, and better returns on fertiliser and soil investments.

AgriSea products are safe, non-toxic, and suitable for all soil types including pastoral land, arable cropping systems, and horticultural applications. They work naturally with soil biology to build long-term soil health and resilience.

CASE STUDIES

Finding the sweet spot: how Chris Parry grew production with fewer cows

Most farmers add cows to increase production. Chris Parry did the opposite, and it worked. He cut cow numbers from 285 to 228 and still lifted production from 71,000 to over 100,000 kilograms of milksolids. It wasn't about chasing more inputs or pushing the farm harder. For Chris, the real shift began when he started paying attention to what was happening beneath the surface — in the soil.

Wilith Farm: From Struggle to Regenerative Success

After 3-4 years of struggling with conventional farming methods, Miah and Jenny Smith transformed their Atiamuri dairy farm. Learning from Australian soil scientist Dr. Christine Jones, they cut synthetic inputs and built soil biology. Eleven seasons later, they hosted Dr. Jones and 100 farmers to showcase their thriving operation.

CASE STUDIES

18.5% Faster Lamb Growth on AgriSea Treated Pasture

A Lincoln University trial - now published in the peer-reviewed journal Agriculture - confirms that AgriSea Soil, Pasture & Ocean Nutrition applied to ryegrass-clover pasture delivers heavier lambs, healthier ewes, and less metabolic stress. One application from lambing to weaning.

Basic vs AgriSea Soil Testing

Traditional soil tests measure only basic NPK and pH, missing the crucial biological factors that determine soil health. AgriSea soil testing evaluates microbial activity, organic matter quality, and nutrient cycling capacity – the factors that truly drive pasture performance and farm profitability.

Enrich Magazine: Rere ki Uta, Rere ki Tai - From Sea to Soil to Society

Building more resilient, profitable, and healthier farms is the goal of Rere ki Uta Rere ki Tai, strengthening farmers' connection with soil through sharing knowledge, experience, and science. Ten farms work with researchers asking: If we focus on the mauri of our soil, can farmers improve pasture health, animal wellbeing, and milk production while achieving happier farmers, higher profits, and better environmental outcomes?
