Paul Sorensen

Area Field Consultant

Northland

Bio

Paul is AgriSea's Area Field Consultant for Northland, working alongside farmers and growers to help them get the best from their soils, crops and stock. What drives him is the opportunity to build trusted relationships and make a positive, practical difference across this vast region.

He joined AgriSea in March 2023 and brings a strong mix of technical depth and real-world experience. Paul has previously held science advisory, land management, and environmental roles with rural co-operatives, regional authorities and private consultancy firms. This background gives him a solid understanding of soils, agronomy, water quality, biostimulants and farming systems for individual paddocks and on a wider catchment scale.

Customers value Paul's clear communication and his ability to turn science into advice that makes sense on farm. He enjoys the variety of his role – from small lifestyle blocks to large-scale farms, and across different locations, soil types, and operations – and seeing how AgriSea can benefit such a wide range of farmers and growers.

Away from day-to-day consulting, Paul and his wife are raising three young boys and lease a family farm where they run their own Hereford herd. When time allows, he enjoys camping, fishing, golf and cooking for family and friends.

Reg Hedges

Area Field Consultant

South Waikato and Bay of Plenty

Bio

Reg is AgriSea's Area Field Consultant across South Waikato and the Bay of Plenty. He supports dairy, drystock, horticulture, orchard, equine, apiculture and lifestyle block customers with practical advice, reliable service and clear communication. A big part of his role is getting to know each business well, carrying out on-farm assessments and soil testing, and making sure orders are delivered on time and as promised.

He joined AgriSea in November 2022, bringing decades of experience in agricultural sales, service and relationship management. He previously owned and operated Power Farming BOP (formerly Capital Tractors), servicing clients from Ōpōtiki to Waihi, and before that owned PlaceMakers Morrinsville. Alongside his business career, Reg has farmed in various forms, from lifestyle blocks and calf rearing through to sharemilking in Matamata and Morrinsville.

Known as a people person, Reg prides himself on building trust and offering solutions that suit AgriSea customers' goals, cash flow and timeframes. What he enjoys most is spending time with farmers and growers, understanding their challenges and helping them make well-considered decisions for their land.

Outside of work Reg enjoys family time, farming, hunting and fishing, classic cars, and following rugby – particularly the All Blacks – from the comfort of his couch.

Gavin Robertson

Area Field Consultant

Taranaki & Wairarapa

Bio

Gavin is AgriSea’s longest-serving Area Field Consultant, starting in 2010. He works closely with customers to maintain and grow their results. He uses his extensive experience to help clients analyse and understand their own test results in a language they understand, not “sciency gobbldy gook”, as he would say. His deep industry networks also play a key role in furthering the AgriSea message.

Before joining AgriSea, Gavin held a management role at PGG Wrightson and is a qualified nurseryman with a Horticultural Trade Certificate. Combined with a career built largely in sales, he brings a strong blend of technical horticultural knowledge and commercial expertise to every conversation.

Gavin is known for his ability to read client needs and turn doubters into long-term converts. He takes pride in the autonomy of his role – describing it as almost like running his own business – and is motivated by the privilege of selling products he knows make a genuine positive difference in the markets he serves. For Gavin, his clients are his greatest motivation and the foundation of both his success and AgriSea’s.

Outside of work, Gavin is a classic car enthusiast – a passion he shares with a number of his long-term clients and one that often helps strengthen the relationships he values so highly.

Nick Wilkins

Area Field Consultant

Manawatu, Whanganui and Hawkes Bay

Bio

Nick is AgriSea's Area Field Consultant across Hawke's Bay, Gisborne, Taihape, Manawatu and Wellington. He works closely with AgriSea customers to provide practical nutritional guidance and on-farm support tailored to their needs. Building strong, long-term relationships is at the heart of his role, and he takes pride in helping people achieve sustainable growth and improved performance.

Alongside his work at AgriSea, he runs a regenerative-focused farmlet rearing calves, and has had good exposure to sheep and equine systems. This hands-on experience, combined with direct use of AgriSea products, gives him the know-how to provide advice that truly works in the paddock.

Nick is known for his ability to connect with people, his loyalty, and his focus on putting clients' interests first. He enjoys the variety his role brings – from visiting show jumping stables to conventional dairy farms to beekeepers – and takes satisfaction in seeing crops flourish, animals perform, and hard work paying off.

Based in Takapau, Central Hawke's Bay, Nick is active in the local tennis and squash clubs and has been involved with horses since he was 10. He continues to support friends in the equine circuit and looks forward to getting involved in performance horse breeding in the near future.

John Earnshaw

Area Field Consultant

South Waikato and Bay of Plenty

Bio

John is AgriSea's South Island Area Field Consultant, and a farmer at heart. Having grown up in a generational farming family and spent his entire working life in agriculture, he brings a school-of-common-sense approach to everything he does. John works alongside farmers to improve soil, pasture and animal performance with a focus on what is realistic, workable and worthwhile.

His advice is grounded in farm walks, visual soil assessments and soil testing which informs farm and animal nutrition plans to support long-term performance. John also works with farmers who want to reduce reliance on synthetic fertilisers, explore biostimulants, or move toward organic or regenerative systems.

John's hands-on dairy farming experience gives him a clear understanding of the pressures farmers face. This allows him to quickly identify where AgriSea can add value without disrupting what is already working. Known for his no-nonsense, commercial mindset, he enjoys helping build better farming systems and lowering day-to-day stress levels. Assisting South Island farmers on their AgriSea journey is very rewarding.

Outside work, John enjoys rugby, cricket and fishing, and has developed a keen interest in cheese making, a hobby he hopes to pursue more seriously in future.

Shane Rush

Central Waikato/ Coromandel Area (Under 15Ha)

Bio

I've been involved in organic and regenerative agriculture for the past 10 years. My wife Nicki and I bought our 2.5 ha block 5 years ago and have set about turning it into a productive home block with extensive vegetable gardens, food forests and using holistic grazing systems to manage our stock. Nicki and I run regular workshops to help others get more out of their land.

One of the most critical aspects of any property, where the goal is to grow healthy nutrient dense food for the people and the animals, is the soil. That's why we use the full range of AgriSea products on our block. We know that if we are looking after the microbial workforce in the soil that they in turn will look after us.

I can help you get an appropriate fertiliser programme underway for your block and apply the product as well. Give me a call on 0274805586 for a consultation and application rates.
